Life is Work
Living cells need energy in order to carry out their processes. This energy comes from outside sources, and helps the cell to perform their many tasks. Photosynthesis generates oxygen and organic molecules used by the mitochandria of eukaryotes as fuel for cellular respiration. Respiration breaks this fuel down, generating ATP. The waste products from this process are the materials used for photosynthesis.
